<title>Winter Guard Results</title>

<link>http://wakefieldhs.wcpss.net/news.php</link>

<description>Congratulations to the Wakefield HS Maroon and Wakefield HS Silver Winter Guards for their performance at the Winter

Guard International Power Regional in New Jersey this past weekend. Performing their production Love Letters, the Silver team

finished 2nd in the A Classification for the 2nd week in a row. Newtown High School from Connecticut bested them by a mere 3

tenths of a point. Performing their production Juliet, the Maroon team won the Open Classification, finishing ahead of King Phillip

Regional High School from Massachusetts. When rankings come out later today, we anticipate the Maroon team will be ranked 2nd in the

nation, just behind perennial Open Class finalist West Johnston High School and ahead of Tarpon Springs High School from Florida.

This would give the Maroon team a #1 seed in their prelims round at World Championships and the #2 overall seed there. Although,

the Silver team will not be attending World Championships, we anticipate they will be ranked in the top 10-15 of all of the Scholastic

A classification and will be the highest ranked team from North Carolina. Going into this weekend's performances, we were ranked #11

of the nearly 300 teams that had performed nationwide through the season. Both teams will be performing at Circuit Championships this

coming Saturday in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Silver team will finish their season there. The Maroon team will continue on to World

Championships in Dayton, Ohio on April 8-10.</description>

<link>http://wakefieldhs.wcpss.net</link>

<description>You are invited to our Wind Ensemble concert on Tuesday, May 18 at 7:00pm in the WHS Auditorium. This concert will

be a celebration of our first 10 years at WHS. In the concert we hope to show a little taste of all the aspects of the Wakefield

Bands. One of the highlights of the concert, I am sure, will be the world premier of Seas Between Us-a new symphonic work written

for Wind Ensemble by composer Andrew Boysen Jr. Dr. Boysen will be in attendance to conduct the premier and will be working with

our Wind Ensemble and Concert Band on Monday and Tuesday of next week. In addition to this work, the concert will also include

a performance of a piece that will feature four of our student percussionists and a piece that will feature the University Brass
