Please check SPAN for any fines that you may have. Pay them early to avoid the crush at the end and ensure getting your graduation tickets on time. If your fines are not cleared, you will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremonies.


Final Book Club Meeting

The final Book Club meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 22 after school in the main campus media center. This is the "read what you want" meeting. Read and share and be prepared to eat.

SENIORS, PLEASE TELLS US ABOUT ALL OF YOUR AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS SO WE CAN LIST THEM IN THE GRADUATION PROGRAM.
We would like to recognize ALL of our seniors who have received awards and scholarships from universities, colleges, and outside agencies. In order to have these awards printed in the graduation program, you must fill out the senior information sheet and return it to the front desk by Friday, May 17th. Please note that ALL of the following are due to the front desk by Friday, May 17th:
  • Your RSVP to Senior Night with the number of guests attending.
  • Your RSVP to the Baccalaureate Ceremony.
  • Babysitting forms for young children on Senior Night.
  • The Senior Information Sheet noting awards and scholarships you have received.
  • If you have fines and fees that need to be paid, they are also due to the Media Center on Friday, May 17th.

Students and parents: Are you looking for something positive and beneficial for your child to do this summer paid or unpaid? Would you like him/her to grow interpersonally and/or academically? Enrichment opportunities offered by colleges and private organizations all over the nation often can make your child more competitive in the college admission process. He/she will also learn about his/her career interests, skills, and abilities. The counseling and student services Enrichment Opportunities list is updated throughout the year and can be accessed from the WHS website/ student service webpage: http://wakefieldhscounselors.weebly.com/index.html. Many program deadlines fall between Feb. and June so this is a great time to look at the offerings.


How Did You Do on the ACT? Find Out...

Here are the ACT instructions for students who took the ACT junior year at WHS and want those scores sent to colleges:
1. Go to www.actstudent.org.
2. Click on "Sign up/Log in"
3. Click "Create Account"

4. Answer the two questions: "Have you registered for the ACT before?" (NO) and "Have you taken the ACT before?"(YES) Click "Continue."
5. Complete the brief form including entering the email address you will keep and check. Click "Continue."
6. Enter in the student's social security number OR ACT ID number (NO DASHES). This number is on their ACT report from last year. It's at the top of the form, listed under the birthday, and says "ID-XX-XX-XXXX" **This step is how the student accesses last year's scores as opposed to creating a new account w no score report history.**
7. From there, the student will create a username and a password will be emailed to him/her. He/She will go to their email, get the password, go back to the website, and create a new password.
8. Then, the student can view last year's ACT, select colleges to send it to, etc. The current cost the score report is $11 per school/report sent.

Summer School Applications Available

Summer school applications are now available in student services on both campuses as well as on the school website. They need to be signed by both the parent and the student. Applications must be turned in to student services by June 25th in order to be considered for summer school. If you have any questions call Mr. Wolfe at 919-562-3605

Math Department to Rent Calculators

New for 2013-2014 school year.
The Math Department will be renting TI-83 and TI-84 calculators. The rental fees will be $15 a semester $25 a year

We will only accept cash/certified check/money orders/online payments. No personal checks.

More information will follow during the summer.
