On Saturday February 4, 2012, Meredith College will offer its annual women’s leadership development conference for high school juniors. Young women who currently hold leadership positions, or aspire to assume leadership positions their senior year are encouraged to attend this FREE conference. Pre-registration for the conference is required and space is limited to 250 students. Registration closes on Friday, January 27th, but due to the popularity of this event students are encouraged to register as soon as they are certain they are able to attend. WHS Choral Program Presents "A Fool for Love"

Back by popular demand, The Wakefield High School Choral Program will be presenting "A Fool for Love - A Valentine's Day Renaissance Dinner" on Thursday, February 16th. The last presentation, "A Madrigal Dinner" was sold out, so plan to get your tickets early. Seating is reserved and all tickets must be sold no later than February 9. All proceeds support the Choral Booster program and will assist funding for student travel this spring. "A Fool for Love" is a wonderful and unique opportunity for share with your sweetheart, treat the entire family or bring your friends. Tickets are $20.00 each and includes a full seated dinner with show. Seating begins at 6:45, with dinner being served promptly at 7PM. Tickets will be on sale during smart lunch the week of Jan. 30 - Feb 3 and Feb. 6-9.

Wakefield High School will host our annual NCAA information session on Thursday, February 16th at 6:00pm. All student-athletes and their families are encouraged to attend. Valuable information will be shared regarding NCAA eligibility and recruiting. This program is open to student-athletes from all local middle schools and high schools in grades 7-12. Mr. Phil Moses, Director of Academic Support for Student Athletes at Florida International University will be our guest speaker for the program.

"Which college would be best for me? What's it like to be a college student? How should I prepare for this important step in my life?"

The Greater Raleigh National College Fair can help students find the answers. On Tuesday, March 13, nearly 200 colleges from around North Carolina and across the country will participate in the largest college fair in this part of North Carolina. Students and parents can visit with college representatives and attend special workshops including:
  • how to search for the best fit
  • application tips
  • essay writing
  • how to finance a college education
Students should pre-register online.

COST: There is no charge to attend.
